Being a girl if we spot a stunning piece, colorful, bright and beautiful, we fall for it right away and will want to add it to our wardrobe. But there is a lot more to choosing the right pair of earrings than just picking up one that matches your outfit or catches your eye. Earrings as being positioned right on your face are the most important accessory. Choosing your perfect style can enhance you natural beauty, whereas a wrong choice can hide your beautiful features.
We should keep in mind that everyone is created uniquely. Knowing your face shape is the best tool to have for so many reasons. May it be choosing the right jewelry, sunglasses, hat, scarf or makeup. I would say everything that got to do with facial beauty.
Let me tell you a fun and easy way to determine your face shape. Take a lipstick or a washable marker and draw the outline of your face on a mirror. This will give you a basic idea of what shape your face carries. Then find the widest area on your face and apply the rules of balance and proportion. Your goal should be to complete your look by filling out the empty space on the face with earrings to make it as balanced as possible.
Below I am sharing with you a few examples with illustrations that may help along the way.
Oval Shaped Face
It is said that the oval shaped faces are the most flattering of all shapes. Oval face features wide foreheads that are as wide as the cheekbones. If you have a hard time figuring out what is your face shape, chances are it is an oval. Hoops, dangling, chandelier, studs and pretty much anything and everything looks great on this face shape.
Heart or Diamond Shaped
Heart shaped faces feature a forehead that is wider than the cheeks with a tapered chin. Tear drop earrings help to balance out the face and draw attention to the eyes, cheekbones and jaw line.
Square Face
Those with a square face have a jaw bone that makes a nearly 90 degree angle with their hair line. Earrings that are longer than they are wide work perfectly. Avoid squares! Choose earrings with dangles and dimension, tear drops, exaggerated shapes and studs.
Round Face
A round face is similar to oval, but rounder just as the name says. The widest part is across the cheekbones. The goal with a round face is to add length. Wear long skinny earrings, better yet, ones with a slight twist or a curve. Avoid buttons/round and hoops – no circles please.
Narrow or Rectangle Face
If your face feels like a square, more longer and angular, then you likely have a rectangular face. Teardrops, ovals, hoops and studs, are all flattering to your face shape. Pearls look great as they add softness at the angles.
In the end I would like to say these were just a few guidelines. Everyone is different and beautiful in their own way. Do what makes you feel good and confident. Earrings should be fun and make a statement about who you actually are. How about experiment a bit and see what earring designs work best for you?
